عل من أحد المؤشرات الرئيسية التي تم ملاحظتها في معرض CSUN هو أن جهاز الجوال أخذ يعزز دوره المحوري في إستقلالية وخصوصية الكفيف ليس من وجهة نظر الإتصال والتواصل، ولكن أيضا من ناحية إعتماد الكفيف عليه في أمور أخرى مثل قراءة الوثائق المطبوعة على إختلاف ألوانها.
رأينا عرضا مفصلا عن برنامج KNFB Reader حيث تسنى لنا أن نجربه ونرى مدى فاعليته وأكاد أقول بأن دقته تعتبر مثيرة للإعجاب. يستطيع الكفيف قراءة الوثائق المختلفة بواسطة إلتقاط صورة عن الوثيقة سواء كانت فاتورة أو قائمة طعام أو رسالة أو مذكرة أو جريدة أو كتاب. ويتفاعال البرنامج مع المستخدم بحيث ينبهه بأن الورقة غير مستقيمة أو أنها منحنية. ثم يستقر البرنامج منبها المستخدم بأنه يستطيع إلتقاط الصورة حيث يبدأ الجوال بقراءة الموضوع وكأنه يقوم بذلك فوريا. البرنامج يعمل على جهاز نوكيا N82 وذلك لأنه يحتوي على كاميرا ذو 5 M Pixle. ومن المتوقع أن تطلق نوكيا قريبا سلسلة جديدة من الجوالات التي توفر مثل هذه الكاميرا.
هذا المنتج يعتبر منتجا واعدا جدا ونتوقع له المزيد من النجاح ونرجو أن ننجح في إقناع الشركة في التعريب بغض النظر عن السمعة غير الطيبة التي أصبحت منطقتنا العربية تعاني منها فيما يتعلق بالقرصنة والإقبال عليها.
